Making Yorkstone walling
Watch the video of yorkstone pitch faced walling being made. The york stone blocks are first cut down into york stone slabs known as scants, the scants are then placed on rollers and pushed through a machine called a cropper or block splitter. When the yorkstone slabs have been cropped to walling sizes, the pieces of york stone or ashlar are then dressed or pitched so that they have square edges and ends.
